Nate Yohannes is the Head of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Product Management for Creators at Instagram. In this capacity, Mr. Yohannes is responsible for formulating and executing strategies for the integration of cutting-edge AI technologies to empower creators on Instagram.
Prior to joining Instagram, Mr. Yohannes served as a Group Product Manager at Meta’s Modern Recommendation System, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing a foundational AI team focused on the commercialization of Large Language Models (LLMs) from research to production. This team catered to a user base exceeding 4 billion daily active users.
Before his tenure at Meta, Mr. Yohannes held the position of Director of Product & Strategy in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Microsoft. In this capacity, he spearheaded company-wide initiatives in the areas of autonomous systems, robotics, and AI/ML. His responsibilities extended to leading efforts in the digital transformation of enterprise customers within Microsoft's Mixed Reality (AR/VR) & AI division.
Mr. Yohannes also contributed to Microsoft's social-ethical considerations in AI as a member of the AI Sensitive Use Case task force. His earlier roles at Microsoft included serving as the Director of Corporate Business Development, where he played a key role in commercializing AI, IoT, and the Intelligent Cloud.
A Dean's Fellow graduate from the University at Buffalo School of Law, Yohannes' academic achievements include elected Class Director, serving as a student honors clerk for the New York State Supreme Court's Hon. Paula Feroleto. His notable contributions earned him accolades such as the Hon. Green Commencement Award, Alumni Trailblazer Award, and the Majority Leader of the New York State Assembly’s Grassroots Award.
Following his legal career, Mr. Yohannes transitioned into the financial sector as an Associate General Counsel at the Money Management Institute. Notably, he represented the securities industry during the regulatory overhaul of the U.S. financial industry in the aftermath of the Great Recession and the creation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act.
Mr. Yohannes earned a political appointment by President Obama as the Senior Advisor to the Chief Investment and Innovation Officer at the U.S. Small Business Administration. In this capacity, he played a key role in strategizing and executing initiatives for a $36 billion private equity fund and a $4 billion innovation grant.
Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Yohannes has been recognized for his expertise and leadership. He was nominated by the Vice Chairman of Nasdaq as a Young Executive Advisor for Nasdaq’s Entrepreneurial Center and served as an expert for MIT’s Digital Economy Initiative. Currently, he sits on the board of directors for Cognovi Labs, an AI company specializing in emotional responsiveness and is an active angel investor.
Mr. Yohannes is currently enrolled as a Dean Technology Innovation Scholar in an executive Master's in Science program at Brown University’s School of Engineering in Technology Leadership.
